So Berkley the Beta was my pet fish - notice I said was because today he went to swim in the ocean (he died). Most of you probably didn't even know I had a fish because he lived in his bowl at my desk at JCPenney. Berkley was the fourth fish to come to live in the C1 building - Corky (Jamie's fish), Burgundorf (Jess's fish), and Bubbles (Delanie's fish). Berkley was kind of my going away present from last March when I found out I was moving to C2 - my team didn't want me to be lonely in my new home and with my new team, so that how I got Berkley.
As silly as it sounds - I am actually really sad he is gone. No I didn't cry! However, I will miss how he used to get super excited when I would get to work in the morning - only because he knew that meant he got to eat. Now some of you are laughing at me thinking a fish isn't smart and can't get excited but he did - my pod mates and anyone who has babysat Berkley can back me up on this. He also use to swim around his bowl, but a lot of times if I was working at my computer he would be on that side of his bowl closest to the computer staring at me - I know it was more the noise that drew him there but still it was nice to have a friend. Now the thing I think I will miss the most about him, is the thing that made me laugh no matter how many times he did it - in the middle of his bowl I had a bamboo tree. At times he would just be swimming around in his bowl and his side fin would hit the tree and it would scare him, so he would proceed to swim really fast and hit the tree again. Eventually this would end by Berkley head butting the tree and then he would some how realize it wasn't something that was going to attack him. Those are all the fun good Berkley stories I have to share.
Tomorrow when I get to work it will be a little lonely because no one will be that excited to see me....
