Most recently I was given this nickname by Tim and the rest of my Brazil team last April. You have to know something about Tim - he gives everyone a nickname and since I didn't get a nickname on my first trip to Brazil - I told him I wasn't leaving Brazil without a nickname this year. It started out as short b/c I am small and cake b/c it is sweet and I sweet - well that was the explanation I was given anyways. However, my "new" nickname didn't really stick until our second day on the river. I had a little Brazil boy who followed me around all day asking me, "Por que está tão pequena?" Finally, at the end of the day I was able to have a translator explain to me what this little boy had been asking me all day. I knew I was in trouble as soon as the translator started to laugh, but I also really wanted to know what he had been asking me all day. The little Brazilian boy had been asking me all day long "why I was so small?" So once the team heard the story - I was officially known as Shortcake why are you so small...

Even though this is nickname that I have been given several times through out my life - the chances are that this time it will stick for good. All because a little boy wanted to know why I was so small.
